The Face of Sin

I'm pretty sure if you look up the word 'sin' in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of this ice cream cake!

As promised I had big plans for the coffee ice cream that I can 't get enough of. A few weeks ago I found the perfect devil's food cake recipe online.   It was so decadent, I decided to frost only one layer and freeze the other.    While pondering the nightly question, What sweet treat can we have for a nightcap, I came up with this sinful idea.  What better way to use leftover cake and ice cream?

I cut the layer of cake in half horizontally and spread on  two flavors of my homemade ice cream:  coffee and vanilla.  Then, I whipped up a carton of whipping cream for icing.  Side note:  My right bicep is the only muscle that gets a regular workout!  Freezing the cake between steps for a few minutes helped set the ingredients and made frosting the cake a breeze.  As if it wasn't rich enough, the boys insisted that I add a few chocolate chips.

It was so easy and I had all of the ingredients on hand.  I doubt that I'll be buying another ice cream cake for birthday celebrations.  The possibilities are endless!

Oh my goodness, why have I never thought to do that. Yummy!!! How do you store the leftovers (if there were any...ha!)?

I put it in a plastic cake dome and stored it in the freezer. I let it sit out for a minute or so before cutting slices and then popped it back in the freezer. It didn't last too long!
